TOZ By Esther Dance school is now New Ballet & Balance by Esther

Esther van Emden, founder of TOZ By Esther, has been renting at the beautiful location of the Chassé Dance Studios for 9 years.
Now be it 10th year since the dance school’s founding, Esther has decided to adjust the content of the classes to a more flowing whole, and in doing so, she is partnering with Chassé Dance Studios by merging and teaching her own students and those from CDS.
This will give both organizations more body and assurance of a good Saturday morning class that can culminate for students in eventual admission to the AHK‘s 5 0′ Clock dance program.
By joining hands and supporting each other in this transition year, we hope that students will also feel together and merge in a true ballet school.
Esther was already planning to change the name of the dance school because of her new approach to teaching ballet/dance classes, and since she will have completed her training as a children’s coach in July 2023, this is a great time to express the name of the classes in a new name for the school as well.
New Ballet & Balance represents the new insights into dance development that Esther loves to pass on to her students and the balance that children bring with them by being allowed to express themselves in all their facets. Through teaching, observing and coaching each unique child, the dance time your child experiences at these classes will be an enrichment of his/her individuality that is allowed to be there to the fullest.

Toddler dance 2.5 – 3 years old

In a playful way, children discover all the possibilities of moving to music.
Ample attention is given to all children individually and together.
By using language dance® and math dance®, children are stimulated in learning the basic forms of language and math. Improvisation is a very important part of these lessons. Attributes are also used in dancing such as scarves, balls, rings, etc. Of course, all this is done to very beautiful and lively music.

Toddler dance 4-5 years

After toddler dance, children advance to the preschool dance group at age 4.

Here the learned concepts about diagonal dancing, dancing together, individual dancing, improvisation are now also linked to small assignments within classical dance technique however all this in a playful way. The children discover more and more what the body is all about and also that they themselves can memorize dance forms. Own creativity is the focus of this lesson and sharing this creativity with the other children.

From toddler dance classes, children move on to children’s ballet group 1.Everything they have learned from toddler to preschooler is covered but is now broadened to include the first principles of classical ballet technique. Concepts such as the diagonal, horizontal, vertical, and manage and the use of space and placement of the body are now going to be used optimally when teaching a variety of different dance steps. We will also start learning to combine these dance steps and there will be a lot of experimentation again in terms of improvisation and the combination of the newly learned dance steps.

Children’s ballet 2 8 to 12 years old

Also featured are new dance steps appropriate to this age group. Classical ballet technique is increasingly integrated into the performance of the improvisations that remain an important part of ballet class. The children will dance more together in varying choreography to various styles of music. Within the lesson there is also room for the children’s creativity. Muscle strengthening and posture are certainly addressed in ballet class and school.

VAD Adult Amateur Dance Group

Every other week starting from 9-09-2023, VAD dances with each other. This unique dance group consists of dancers between the ages of 14 and 75. The dancers all dance at a dance school besides VAD, no matter where that is, and they all meet on Saturday afternoons every other week to experience working on choreography as a professional dancer. The uniqueness of this dance group is the composition of dancers in age. The interaction between young and old gives each other the energy, thoughtfulness and power.
Age difference falls away within the choreography. We start with a good warm-up and then get to work with music and choreography that is often devised by the dance teacher but the dancers’ own input is also very important and desired. We have been around since 2017 and have created no less than 7 choreographies, 5 of which have been performed.
